Audit logs - Schedule publish

Updated by Leigh Hutchens

When schedules are published, updated, or automated, the system captures these changes in the Audit Logs. This allows you to track exactly when a schedule became visible to your team and who—or what process—triggered the action. This guide focuses specifically on Schedule publish entries.

For general navigation or information on other log types—such as shift swaps or assignments—please refer to our Audit logs overview article.

Locating schedule publish logs

You can find these entries within the Adjust view panel. In the audit logs table, schedule actions are identified by the Schedule publish item type.

Reading the audit log table

While the layout follows our standard audit log logic, the following columns contain specific data for schedule publishing.

Column

Description

Timestamp

Timestamp of the action.

Groups affected

Lists the units and sections impacted. (See "Understanding groups affected" below).

Item type

Displays as Schedule publish.

Item

Shows the specific publish date associated with the action.

Action

Always displays as Update, as publishing updates the visibility status of the schedule.

Action made by

Shows the user who performed the action and the origin (how the action was triggered).

Action made for

Displays as N/A, as these actions affect groups rather than individual employees.

Trail

The purpose of the item trail is to provide you with a chronological overview of everything that has happened to one given item in Quinyx, in an attempt to provide the context you need when resolving disputes or issues concerning workforce planning and attendance.

Understanding groups affected

To keep the interface clean, the system summarizes the impacted areas:

  • Unit-level publish: Displays the unit name and all sections sharing that publish date.
  • Section-level publish: Displays the specific section name and its parent unit.
  • Multiple sections: If several sections are affected, the table shows the count (e.g., "4 sections"). Hover over the count to see a tooltip with the specific section names.

Action origins

The Action made by column provides context on how the publish was triggered. There are five possible origins:

  • Automatic unit publishing: Triggered by a pre-set automated schedule.
  • Manual unit publishing: Triggered manually by a manager from the Schedule tab at the unit level.
  • Manual section publishing: Triggered manually for a specific section.
  • Unit schedule approval: Triggered automatically once a schedule passes through the official approval flow.
  • Via integration: Triggered by an external third-party system or API.

Viewing deep-dive details

To see the specific changes made during a schedule publish action, click the chevron in the leftmost column of any row. This dialog shows the details of a schedule publish update in the audit log, allowing you to see exactly what changed — including the previous and new publish date — and who or what triggered the change.

Item trails are not available for schedule publish logs because the full history is already visualized within the main table view.
