Q: What is Schedule Compliance?
A: It’s a scheduling validation tool that helps you follow labor laws and internal agreements by:
- Automatically checking shift changes.
- Sending real-time warnings or stopping rule-breaking actions.
- Supporting custom rules based on shift type, employee age, and agreement templates.
Q: Who should use Schedule compliance?
A: These updates are especially helpful if you:
- Need to comply with local break and rest laws.
- Want real-time validation when adjusting schedules.
- Regularly audit or track changes to scheduling policies.
Q: Why is this feature important for compliance and employee wellbeing?
By using Schedule Compliance, you reduce risk and help create a more consistent, fair, and legally compliant work environment. It also:
- Minimizes costly scheduling mistakes.
- Supports workforce health and safety.
- Improves trust and transparency with staff.
Q: Can I tailor the rules to fit our business needs?
A: You can:
- Use custom rule values to override default agreement settings.
- Apply shift filters to target specific shift types (e.g., labor-intensive work).
- Use age filters to protect underage workers or apply age-specific rules.
- Set different thresholds for the same rule type—for example, a warning at 35 hours/week and a hard stop at 40.
Q: Real-world examples: How does this help me day-to-day?
- Avoid over-scheduling part-time workers by setting max hours per week.
- Prevent fatigue by ensuring rest time between shifts.
- Support young workers by applying stricter rules for under-18s.
- Adapt during peak seasons by temporarily adjusting rules with custom values.
Q: What types of rules can I apply?
A: Rules are grouped into these categories:
- Break
- Working time
- Availability
- General
- Rest rules
Each rule can be configured as:
- 🟡 Warning: Displays a message but allows the action
- 🔴 Hard stop: Blocks the action until the rule is met
Q: What’s the benefit of rule sets?
A: Rule sets let you group multiple compliance rules and apply them to specific agreement templates. You can:
- Use Quinyx's default rule set.
- Create custom rule sets for different teams or units.
- Archive outdated rule sets to keep things clean.
This means your rules are always aligned with the agreements your employees work under.
Q: How do I create a rule set?
A: To create a rule set:
- Go to Account settings > Compliance > Schedule compliance.
- Click Add new > Agreement template rule set.
- Give the rule set a name, link it to agreement templates, and add a description of the rule.

- Click Save.
- Click the + under Rules.
- Add rules by selecting a category like Availability, Break, General, Rest or Working time.
- Select rule type. These differ depending on what category you've selected.
- Choose the severity (Warning or Hard Stop)
- Optionally, apply filters for shift types and employee age
⛔ You can’t create duplicate rules with the same type and severity.
Q: What if I need to disable or update a rule?
A: You can archive individual rules if they’re no longer relevant. This stops them from triggering validations. You can also edit rule sets at any time to reflect new policies or agreements.
